Eliza Foster established this forward-thinking business in 1980, and now Made in the Shade umbrellas are used exclusively at restaurants and resorts world-wide and in the backyards of homes everywhere. 

She explains: “Our acrylic marine-grade canvas umbrellas are beautiful and built to last.  They are dope-dyed, which means they’re colourfast for life, are mildew-resistant and suitable for all climates.  Our sustainably sourced Victorian ash hardwood frames, which we construct and finish by hand, are strong and stunning.”

Made in the Shade also offers an Australia-wide refurbishing service between April and September to all its customers at about half the cost of a new umbrella.  Made in the Shade can replace and repair worn or broken components or retro-fit accessories, plus a courier will pick it up for you.
