St Augustine’s Catholic Primary School is situated 4km out of Frankston and is set within more than 3ha of beautiful bushland grounds.
Principal Jan de Koning says St Augustine’s is committed to an education in values and moral development based on the teachings of Jesus Christ, the Gospels and the Catholic Church. “The school is embraced by a strong and committed community and is proud to offer a contemporary learning environment that we believe combines outstanding education supported by innovative practices and current technology,” Jan says. “Our staff is nurturing and passionately committed to providing optimum learning opportunities to engage all our students in their learning.”
Specialist teaching staff provide programs in music, physical education, Italian, visual arts (including ceramics), performing arts/drama, kitchen garden/hot house and the kids’ kitchen. Middle and senior students take part in archery while the senior students participate in interschool sport.
Extra assistance with reading and writing is provided for students, with specialist teaching staff employed to deliver programs such as Reading Recovery and Levelled Literacy Intervention. St Augustine’s Mighty Maths program provides remedial or extension support for students in mathematics, and Learning Support personnel work in conjunction with the classroom teachers to challenge or extend existing skills.
