Award accelerates Nathan’s career

April 12, 2017

Nathan Thompson has won the inaugural Student of the Year Award as the most exceptional automotive apprentice at Chisholm Institute.

Nathan, a third-year automotive student, will receive a $2000 toolbox from ACM Parts.

ACM chief executive Mike Kirkman said the award was a fundamental part of his company’s commitment to nurture and inspire outstanding talent in the automotive training industry.

“An investment in the best and brightest students is an investment in the Australian collision and mechanical repair industry,” Mr Kirkman said.

“ACM Parts is proud to have been able to give Nathan the tools and opportunities to help him succeed and we wish him all the best with his future career.”

During high school, Nathan completed a Certificate II in Automotive Technology VET program.  He then completed a Certificate III in Automotive Mechanical Technology at Chisholm and has been working full-time for VACC with host employer Bay City Holden in Frankston.

Chisholm’s general manager for trades, Stuart Hoxley, said Nathan’s award was definitely well deserved.  “Nathan has been an absolutely outstanding student who has shown tremendous skill and promise in his apprenticeship at Chisholm.”

Mr Hoxley said he was confident Nathan would make excellent use of the opportunities and support provided by ACM Parts and had a great career ahead of him.
